Allison has done 3 furniture repairs for me to date – a set of 6 rickety cedar rail-back chairs, a wobbly cedar miners couch and conversion of a kauri pine hutch-top to a bookcase.
It’s a delight to find a woman doing woodwork, and also someone who shows such respect to the individual pieces. She honoured their old character and patina, kept and reused in the same positions the original old screws and nails to maintain authenticity, and also went that bit extra and re-oiled some pieces to rejuvenate them and bring back their original colour.
She demonstrates a wonderful combination of thoughtful care, reliability, humour, generosity with restoration advice, and great value for money. I look forward to the next few repairs! (Helen, Sunshine Coast)
