The Blanket box

The Blanket Box was a treasured item in the customers home but time, the now grown children and the adorable pets had taken their toll ......

It was time for a make over!

The box was made from solid pine and joints etc were in good order so no repairs needed there. There were however some teeth marks from the dog on the skirting and quite a few dints in the lid.

A good sanding all over to remove the finish and the dints, then fill the teeth marks and the box was good to go for a new finish.

Considering where the box was located in the home we decided to put a hard wearing finish on followed by a buff with some beeswax and oil mix and the Blanket Box was back to its former glory and delivered home to its delighted owners.

Chest of Drawers Revamp

This set of drawers is at least 50 years old and its purposes have varied dramatically. It has been a storage place for new babies clothes, sat in a shed unused for several years along with a great place to store tools in a workshop .....but it was time to get back to its original use and have a much needed makeover.

It was from an era where things were built to last and given its history its surprising that it still has all its original structure.

Several coats of paint had to be removed to get back to the original timber frame.

Some decorative beading was added to the drawer fronts to give it some character and then stained and new drawer pulls where added to complete the look.

The everyday Cutting Board

The item that just about every household has and not all know how to look after them ...... but there is a very simple solution at hand!

This is a great example of a cutting board that is well used and loved but very much in need of some attention. The board was cleaned and sanded back to reveal the wonderful grain and then cutting board oil was applied which is food safe and allowed to penetrate the wood for a few hours. The excess was then rubbed off and buffed to a lustre and ready for use.

The home owner could hardly believe it was the same board and took their treasured item home.
